Totally scrapped the other bg because I didn't like ittt :CCC & I need to finish up Mad King's belt * n*
Wow Dutch that turned super good 0_0
Frustration - I CANT WAIT TO SEE ITTTT : DDDD
All i can say is 'dawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww' when i see that :3
Why didnt you like the previous background? D: I thought it had potential.
the skulls turned out very nice ^^
what do you plan to do with the the brown hill background-finggys? o:
@ dutch: nice idea on tearing the back poster! makes it look even more realistic I'm not a fan of the pumpkin though. I think it's because everything else is so amazingly detailed and then the pumpkin is just kinda there (although that's probably because you're not done with your magic touches ).
@death: I'm so happy you were able to find something helpful in my ramblings XD looking forward for the next update!
@ marsh: looks really great! It's amazing how you can make skulls look adorable :O
For my story, I've decided to change the intro a bit so I took that off of my WiP page while I edit it. My plan for finishing my "literature art" is:
1) Write battle scene 1
2) Write battle scene 2
3) Rewrite intro a bit
4) ZOMG proof-read
5) Sit back and forget it for a day
6) Reread, make final edits, submit to the GW contest, post final draft for Guru contest
The good news is that I should be able to finish it in time, but the bad news is that I've already crossed the 10k word mark (my short story is now a novelette!) so I hope the judges are ok with that and don't insta-trash it O_O I still have to convince anet that it really is literature art :O
Arrow - -hug- :D I didn't like it because I wasn't able to make it 'work' D| XD and I thought it just didnt make any sense : P
Xandra - Baw ty :333 I couldnt do charr skulls, lol @__@ (they didnt turn out right to me.. xDD,at least ) * U* Add some pictures make a cover and print&Sell <333 :DD!!
Oh man, Marshmellow that's so cute! What are you planning to do with the lower middle space? I think a cobblestone path leading into the background would be nice :3
It's been a while since I've shown a body shot. Here yah go:
About a full day of work later, and the body is starting to look a lot more done. Still have to work on the right arm, add the hands, work on the stomach and chest, add the head, add the mane, do the shoulders, and finish the tail. Meanwhile, when it's dark, I'll be carving and painting guild wars pumpkins as decorations.
holy crap...so many updates I can't keep up!! This thread is really really taking off and I am so glad
Charlie's piece is looking phenomenal. I think looking at Charlie's piece then turning to Marsh's entry would cancel each other and bring us back to normal. >_>
Just a small comment on Death By An Arrow's entry: I think a second light source is needed. I had the same dilemma in my piece. Maybe some sort of moonlight thingy?
Good job everyone. I may not comment on each and everyone of the entries but I do look at them and will comment if I see something that needs cnc

Finished up the fabric around the belt line and stiffened up the rufflies by the shoulders. Collar is nearing completion too. And I finally got some progress done on the boots! I think I might actually be able to take final pictures on Sunday. *cross fingers*
Tomorrow morning will be the etching on the upper parts for texture, then prime and paint.
Marsh's skulls made my day, I love their faces But where's Langmar's eyepatch? And don't worry about the BG's, both look very nice. Such a cute and well made picture you have drawn, Marsh, I love it
Great job with the boots, Kiya! Hope you get the photo shoot going on Sunday!
Let me say. Shady has one of the very, very few fire sculptures I've seen going on, and he's doing it so well! Can't wait to see the head attached and the whole thing on fire... Yes, fire will be nice... The way it dances inside and outside the effigy and... Keep up the awesome work!
After a short re-think I decided I'll re-check and clean up my work today and get the photos during the weekend. If I don't get satisfying photos today, I'll continue tomorrow.

Can't wait to see them! You must have been working a ton!
as for me, I carved a pumpkin tonight!
This took like an hour. I'm so used to hours of work just yielding little tiny things on the effigy's body that it seemed like this took NO TIME AT ALL!
Basically in the end shot, I'll have the top off of this pumpkin and the effigy will be using mind-burn on it. lololol.
@Oh_Frustration: awww thanks! I really hope it turns out as well as I think it will. Night photography is really hard, but I've got a few tricks up my sleeves.
What crossed my mind today, when I thought about scariness in art, I thought I'd link this music video here. If there was a video category and Adam Jones, Tool's guitarist, was a GW player, he'd probably be pretty high ranked
And if you wonder, I listen to this stuff a lot, so this is also the first scary video that comes to my mind. Dunno, maybe a wee bit gory, but mostly simply scary and WEIRD!

I'm not really seeing the difference in the way the Gwens and the hallway are painted. There wasn't an intentional change in style of how I painted the two. Though I suppose it could be the MKT wallpaper that's giving that impression - that was simply done with overlays from a massive template rather than individually painted.
As for the shadows, the reference I was working from suggests that the light is above them, but also slightly ahead of them (not too far). Also, there seems to be an accompanying light source that's creating a V-shape in contrast. It's creating a wide cast shadow on account it's coming down from three points: directly above, front, and diagonal. That's why the shadows seem a bit wide - however, I did slightly shave down a bit of the core shadows to better suit their dress.
With the lighting on the legs, the cast shadow in the reference actually ends at the ankle. The only light present on the lower legs is only on the twin's feet. I hitched up the lighting on their legs a bit to show the difference in dress length. I'll see if I can brighten the shadows on the skin of the feet - fairly far into the final steps, so it might be a pain in the ass

Hmm, well, it looks scary now, that's for sure. Though I don't know, I've a feeling you've overdone the overall effect Charlie, but that could just be me?

What the hell is with these advertisements?
Anyways - you'll see what this picture is for when I'm done. It's not the final submission.
Marshy: This was the only time (I think, ever), that a pile of skulls made me go d'awwwww!! ^_^ Turning out suuuper cute!
Charlie: Damn cool! Eeeks! Doesn't help me that I watched a program called Ghost Adventures about the Stanley Hotel yesterday >_>
And yeah I got that annoying flash popup advertisement yesterday too >_<
hm.. so it sounds like I should try and add another lightsource... I dunno if that'll help or hurt the contrast though :/ Anyone have ideas on how I should do it?
lol Charlie! That's like The Shining/Silent Hill crossover O_O

lol I remember watching a marathon of that.
Death By An Arrow: I was gonna try to put a secondary lightsource and my PS was acting funky when I pasted your drawing in a new file..somehow it did the work for me. You can change the background color though to something dark bluish for nighttime. Must be the ghosts...:
